How to use Floti

Floti lets you take notes right on top of your YouTube video. Here’s everything you can do — in plain steps. It takes about two minutes to learn.

What is Floti?

Floti is a sticky note that floats on top of your YouTube video. Watch and write at the same time — no second window, no switching tabs. Your notes save by themselves.

Install it

  1. 1Open the Floti page on the Chrome Web Store.
  2. 2Click “Add to Chrome”, then “Add extension”.
  3. 3That’s it — you don’t need an account to start.

Open your note

Floti lives on YouTube.

  1. 1Open any YouTube video.
  2. 2Find the round 🪶 button at the bottom-right of the screen.
  3. 3Click it — your floating note appears on top of the video.

Write your notes

Just start typing. Everything saves on its own — there is no “save” button. Use the small toolbar for bold, italic, headings, and lists.

Move it and dim it

  1. 1Drag the top bar to move the note anywhere on screen.
  2. 2Drag the bottom-right corner to make it bigger or smaller.
  3. 3Use the slider in the top bar to make it see-through, so it never blocks the video.
  4. 4It stays visible even when the video is fullscreen.

Save the moment (timestamps)

This is the best part.

  1. 1While watching, click the ⏱ button to drop the current video time into your note.
  2. 2Later, click that time and the video jumps right back to that exact moment.

Keep many notes per video

Click the ☰ menu inside the note to see all notes for that video, add a new one, or delete one. Every video keeps its own notes.

Light or dark

Click the ☀️ / 🌙 button in the top bar to switch the note between light and dark. It remembers what you pick.

Summarize with AI (Pro)

Click the ✨ button and Floti writes a short summary of your notes — a quick recap of the key points. Everyone gets 3 free summaries to try; Pro makes them unlimited.

Sync & the web dashboard (Pro)

Want your notes on every device and one place to read them all?

  1. 1Click the Floti icon in Chrome’s toolbar (top-right of the browser).
  2. 2Click “Sign in to sync” and sign in with Google.
  3. 3Your notes now sync to your account.
  4. 4Click “Open dashboard” to view, search, and edit all your notes on the web.

Export your notes (Pro)

On the web dashboard, each note has buttons to download it as a Markdown file or a PDF — handy for sharing or keeping a copy.

Free vs Pro

Free includes the floating notepad, timestamps, multiple notes, light/dark, and 3 AI summaries to try. Pro (about $5/month) adds sync across devices, the web dashboard, unlimited AI summaries, export, and unlimited notes. You can manage or cancel anytime from the dashboard.

Quick fixes

  1. 1Don’t see the 🪶 button? Make sure you’re on a video page (the web address starts with youtube.com/watch), then refresh.
  2. 2Notes not syncing? Syncing needs Pro, and you must be signed in — check the Floti icon in the toolbar.
  3. 3AI summary says you hit the limit? That’s the 3 free summaries used up — upgrade to Pro for unlimited.
